BPD honors Motorcycle Unit’s fallen

The Boston Police Department marked the 100th anniversary of the Motorcycle Unit with a procession of 300 motorcycles yesterday.

Riders gathered inside Fenway Park and went through the city, honoring the men of the Motorcycle Unit that have been killed in the line of duty.

There have been six deaths in total in the 100-year history of the squad, with the earliest occurring in 1921 and the most recent in 1961, according to police.

The American Police Motorcycle Museum honored the six fallen men by furnishing six motorcycles from the years of their deaths. .
