Read more about the Boston Police Motorcycle Squad 100th Anniversary
First, I am a true Bostonian, born in City Hospital, 4/27/1946. As to my reason for writing – I just watched the the police motor memorial ceremony for one of your officers, on video. I am retired from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Ofc., Sanford, FL, after 34 yrs. I oversaw our first motor officers, a squad of two, then four, on H/D’s in 1979. I would take one out on afternoon patrol, anytime that one of my motor officers was sick or on a day off…until one day when our Sheriff heard me out on the motor, and quickly ordered me to park it, and get back to the office. Now my daughter rides for the county seat, Sanford, FL . She is being featured in the NH Police Motor Musuem, in May when they re-open, along with one of your female officers, and female officers from NYC and San Fransisco. Please say hello to Ed Kelly for me, if you can find him. I believe he retired awhile back, like me. We both went to Dorchester High in the 1960’s. I collect old badges from FL and MA.
Regards to all, and – “be careful out there” (“Hill St. Blues…”). Jay Leman
